Gmail is one of the most widely used email services available today, used by over 1 billion people around the world.

With the Gmail integration for Beacon, you can see the emails that you and your colleagues have exchanged with the people you've saved in Beacon, directly inside their timeline:

Naturally, you can expand emails to also see the full thread.

Sharing emails

By default, emails imported into Beacon are only visible to you. If you'd like to share an email with the rest of your team, just click the lock icon on an email:

You can unshare your emails at any time by clicking the lock icon again.

Connecting your Gmail inbox to Beacon is straightforward! It shouldn't take more than 1 minute.

1) Navigate to the timeline of any person record. You'll see a prompt to connect your Gmail inbox with Beacon:

2) Next up, if you're logged in to more than one Google account, you'll be prompted to choose which Google account you'd like to connect:

3) You now need to grant Beacon access to read your emails. (You can remove this access later if you want in your Google security settings). Click Allow.

4) That's it! From now on, you'll see the emails that you've sent and received with people automatically the person timeline.

Frequently asked questions

We don't use Gmail in our organisation. Do you support Outlook?

Not yet, but we're planning on rolling out our Microsoft 365 integration in the next few months.

You're storing all of my emails? Is that safe?

To keep your data safe, we only store a snippet of your emails in Beacon - not the entire message. When you expand an email to view the entire contents, we load the full email directly from Gmail. (But never save it)

Emails aren't showing for a person in Beacon!

We use the person's email address field to determine which emails should be shown in the timeline. If they haven't got an email address saved, that's probably why the emails aren't showing.
