How records relate to each other

Updated 4 months ago

Beacon records rely on pointing to other records, rather than storing the same data in multiple locations. This means that if one of your donors changes their email, for example, you only need to change that information in one place to make sure that everything is up to date.

A helpful way of visualising the way Beacon works is by imagining a TV mystery crime board (you don't have to imagine too hard as we've made you a picture!).

Crime Board

As you can see by our bits of string, all of the records that relate to each other, are linked together, meaning you can update and maintain your contacts quickly and simply!
